NTU AeroFest 2012


NTU AeroFest is here again!! 

For pilots who wants to put their skills to the test and for those we enjoys aerial display and aviation, this is the event for YOU!!

The aim of  the AeroFest by NTU Aerospace society is to promote and generate interest in Aviation and Radio Control Flying sports among students and the public.

This year AeroFest 2012 highlights will include an exhibition,  flight demonstration teams from all across the island, 2 category of photography competition and 3 category of flight competition.

There will also be goodies bags give away,

lucky draw prizes where you could stand a chance to win your very own R/C Aircraft starter set worth $150 and

participants will stand to win an Android tablet for each category!

Exhibition

Date: 27th-28th September 2012

Venue: Canopy K @ LT1A (NTU)

a). Defence Science organization (DSO) displaying previous years winning entries of the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) and other aviation related exhibitions.

b). NTU Aerospace society displaying two aircrafts, promotional videos for RC hobbies, and other related activities.

c). Other invited aviation companies displaying aircrafts and promoting Radio control flying and other related activities.

Competitions/ Flight Demonstration

Date: 29th September 2012
Venue: NTU Sports and Recreration Center (SRC)

Flight demonstration teams will include:

– NTU Flight demonstration team

– Winners from Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC)

– We, The Flyers

– Singapore Polytechnic Aviation club

– O.K Aero-Engineering Hobbies

Indoors and Outdoors freestyle category*

•Participant are to perform stunts within the flight arena.

•To IMPRESS the audience with flying

manoeuvres and stunts.

•Pilots are to fly within the given maximum period of 15 minutes

•After performing the stunts, land at the designated

runway.

** Only Electric planes are allowed and aircraft wing span of no larger than 1.5 meters.

Discus Launch Gliders (DLG) Category*  (Details to be finalized again!) 

•Participant are to perform stunts within the flight arena.

•To IMPRESS the audience with flying

manoeuvres and stunts.

•Pilots are to fly within the given a minimum of 3 mins per flight

•Points will also be awarded to the participant who manage to keep his/her DLG in the air the longest by the second

•There will be 3 flights for each pilot, highest scoring pilot wins

Airborne category

  • Best picture with the aircraft during flight

Best event moment category

  • Picture which is able to capture the best event moments

Transportation

Exhibition Venue (Canopy K @ LT1A)

Public Transport

·           Take 179 or 179A from Boon Lay MRT and alight at Lim Wee Nam Library/ NIE which is 10 stops from Boon lay Interchange for 179 and 4 stops from Boon lay interchange for 179A.

·           Alternately,  there is a free shuttle bus service D from Pioneer MRT to Lim Wee Nam Library/ NIE.

Car/ Taxi

If you are coming by the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the direction of Tuas,

  • get off PIE at Exit 36
  • Turn right into Jalan Bahar after the down ramp and then look out for direction sign to the university
  • Turn left into Nanyang Avenue and proceed ahead to the Jalan Bahar entrance
  • About 5 m from the entrance is an information kiosk with a campus map, if you need help to navigate and locate the building you are visiting

If you are coming by the PIE in the direction of Changi Airport,

  • Get off the PIE at Exit 38
  • Keep left and look out for a direction sign to the university
  • Follow the sign to access via the Pioneer Road North entrance

If you are coming by Pioneer Road,

  • Drive straight towards Pioneer Road North which passes under the PIE flyover
  • Look out for a direction sign to the university
  • Proceed ahead to the Pioneer Road North entrance

For Taxis, you can drop off at Lim wee Nam library bus stop.

For Cars, it is advisable to use car park E which can is indicated on the map given below:

  • Alternately,  there is a free shuttle bus service D from Pioneer MRT and alight opposite hall 6 which is the second stop after entering NTU.

Car/Taxi
