NTU AeroFest 2013

NTU AeroFest is here again!! 

The aim of  the AeroFest by NTU Aerospace society is to promote and generate interest in Aviation and Radio Control Flying sports among students and the public.

This year AeroFest 2013 highlights will include an exhibition,  flight demonstration teams from all across the island with 3 category of flight competition.

There will also be goodies bags give away,

lucky draw prizes where you could stand a chance to win Prizes up to $200 worth of products.

participants will stand to win an Android tablet for each category!

a). Defence Science organization (DSO) displaying previous years winning entries of the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) and other aviation related exhibitions.

b). NTU Aerospace society displaying two aircrafts, promotional videos for RC hobbies, and other related activities.

c). Other invited aviation companies displaying aircrafts and promoting Radio control flying and other related activities.

d) AXA free student career analysis

Competitions/ Flight Demonstration

Date: 14th September 2013
Venue: NTU Sports and Recreation Center (SRC)

Flight demonstration teams will include:

– NTU Flight Demonstration Team

– Just Fly It

– We, The Flyers

– Singapore Polytechnic Aviation Club

Indoors and Outdoors freestyle category*

•Participant are to perform stunts within the flight arena.

•To IMPRESS the audience with flying manoeuvres and stunts

•Pilots are to fly within the given maximum period of 15 minutes

•Safety considerations

** Only Electric planes are allowed and aircraft wing span of no larger than 1.5 meters.

Discus Launch Gliders (DLG) Category*  (Details to be finalized again!) 

The DLG contest will be a more accessible one; with 5 minute rounds and shorter times to hit. Making the goals more achievable and really levels off the playing field.

Exhibition Venue (Canopy K @ LT1A)

Public Transport

·           Take 179 or 179A from Boon Lay MRT and alight at Lim Wee Nam Library/ NIE which is 10 stops from Boon lay Interchange for 179 and 4 stops from Boon lay interchange for 179A.

·           Alternately,  there is a free shuttle bus service D from Pioneer MRT to Lim Wee Nam Library/ NIE.

Car/ Taxi

If you are coming by the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the direction of Tuas,

  • get off PIE at Exit 36
  • Turn right into Jalan Bahar after the down ramp and then look out for direction sign to the university
  • Turn left into Nanyang Avenue and proceed ahead to the Jalan Bahar entrance
  • About 5 m from the entrance is an information kiosk with a campus map, if you need help to navigate and locate the building you are visiting

If you are coming by the PIE in the direction of Changi Airport,

  • Get off the PIE at Exit 38
  • Keep left and look out for a direction sign to the university
  • Follow the sign to access via the Pioneer Road North entrance

If you are coming by Pioneer Road,

  • Drive straight towards Pioneer Road North which passes under the PIE flyover
  • Look out for a direction sign to the university
  • Proceed ahead to the Pioneer Road North entrance

For Taxis, you can drop off at Lim wee Nam library bus stop.

For Cars, it is advisable to use car park E which can is indicated on the map given below:

Instructions for payment of application fee:

      i.      Application Fee is S$20.00, if you bring a friend along, both of you will only need to pay $15 each! Please indicate in your email the name of the friend u are applying with.
      ii.      Application Fee is to be transferred to POSB Savings 228-19241-4 within 48 hours of registration.
1.      An email is to be sent to linj0065@e.ntu.edu.sg or gohw0046@e.ntu.edu.sg with the subject heading: PAYMENT.
2.      In the email body, the applicant is to indicate his/her full name, date of registration, and TRANSACTION REFERENCE NO.
3.      NTU Aerospace Society will reply after Transaction Ref. No. received, indicating that payment has been successfully received. This also acts as confirmation of successful application for NTU Aerospace Society FOC 2012
4.      If an applicant fails to send an email stating he has made payment (regardless of whether he/she has actually made payment), NTU Aerospace Society reserves the right to void the application, in which case, a refund of the application fee will be furnished (if payment is shown to have been made in bank records)
5.      NTU Aerospace Society reserves the right to void any application should payment of application fees not be received within 48 hours

AeroFest 2012 is here!

AeroFest is in 3days!! Are you feeling the heat??

AeroFest 2012 will kick off with an Exhibition from the 27-28th  September for all students and the public to appreciate. Get a feel of the planes up close and even try out the flight simulator with the help of all our experienced pilots!

On the 29th September, best Pilots from all around Singapore will be coming down to compete in our annual AeroFest competition!

Get a feel of these fast flying machines which are capable of going up to 100km/h  right infront of you!

So if you want to feel some heart pumping action right above NTU skies, do come down and join us!

This year will be the debut year for NTU Flight Demonstration Team, we will be flying Twin Stingers in Lead/Opposing Solo performances and information with a MYSTERY Aircraft!


REVISIONS TO AEROFEST DLG COMPETITION TASKS

Hello all,

In view of feed-back from competition participants, we have added more tasks from the F3-K guidelines for AEROFEST DLG competiton

We will be playing the following tasks in the following order.

1) Task H (Increasing time by 15 seconds)
2) Task E (All up, last down, seconds)
3) Task C (Next to last and last flight)
4) Task I (Poker – variable target time)
